Terms of Use

F1 Elo (f1elo.com) is an independent, fan-made project that applies the Elo rating system to Formula 1 race results. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Formula 1, the FIA, Formula One Management (FOM), or any Formula 1 team or driver.

All Formula 1-related trademarks, logos, and intellectual property belong to their respective owners. Driver names, team names, and race data are used for informational and analytical purposes only.

The fantasy game modes (Roster Mode and Stock Market) are for entertainment purposes only. All portfolio values, cash balances, and transactions use fictional currency based on Elo points.

• This is not gambling, betting, or financial trading
• We may introduce prizes or rewards for top performers in the future — if so, separate terms will apply
• Any future rewards program will be announced in advance and participation will be optional
• Playing the fantasy game does not create any entitlement to prizes or compensation

By creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide a valid email address
• Keep your login credentials secure
• Use only one account per person
• Not attempt to exploit, abuse, or manipulate the fantasy game systems
• Not use automated tools in ways that degrade the service for others (API access may be offered in the future)
• Choose a username that is not offensive, impersonating, or misleading

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or otherwise abuse the platform.

We collect minimal data to operate the site:

• Account data: email address, username, and hashed password
• Analytics: anonymized page views (IPs are masked) to understand usage patterns
• Fantasy data: your portfolio selections and trade history

We do not:

• Sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing
• Use your data for advertising or profiling
• Store payment information (there are no payments)

You can delete your account at any time from your Settings page. This permanently removes all your data.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Contract: account data is processed to provide you the service you signed up for (account, fantasy game)
• Legitimate interest: anonymized analytics help us understand how the site is used and improve it
• Consent: by accepting these terms at signup, you consent to the data processing described here

Under GDPR and similar privacy laws, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data — view your account information in Settings
• Rectify inaccurate data — update your username or email in Settings
• Delete your data — delete your account from Settings (permanent and immediate)
• Object to processing — contact us to opt out of analytics tracking
• Data portability — contact us to request an export of your data
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated

This site uses:

• Essential cookies: session and authentication cookies required for the site to function
• Google Analytics: anonymized usage statistics (you can block this with browser extensions like uBlock Origin)
• Sentry: error tracking to identify and fix bugs (no personal data is sent)

Our infrastructure providers include:

• Heroku (hosting, based in the US) — serves the application and stores the database
• Google (analytics, based in the US) — receives anonymized page view data
• Sentry (error tracking, based in the US) — receives error reports without personal data

By using this site, you acknowledge that some data may be processed in the United States. These providers maintain appropriate data protection safeguards.

The Elo ratings, statistics, and analysis on this site are generated algorithmically from historical race data. They are provided as-is for entertainment and educational purposes.

• Ratings are not official and do not represent the views of any F1-affiliated entity
• We make no guarantees about the accuracy or completeness of the data
• Race data is sourced from publicly available APIs and may contain errors
• Ratings should not be used as the basis for betting or financial decisions

This site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, or inaccuracies in the content.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
